Wondering how everyone fared? What you would have changed during the race and more important, what you would have done differently in training. I ran 2:23:45. I knew I wasn't fit enough to chase the standard this time around. I am very happy to have run 2:23 which is still well off my best. I hope to continue checking up on you fellas. Good luck.

I am also looking to be a shade over 1:09. I don't know which uni I am wearing yet, but my bib number is 53.

I'm looking to do the same exact thing as Robert, start conservative and neg split. My number is 68: Fleet Feet yellow and navy uniform.

I'm looking to go through the half in a little over 1:09. I want to ease into the OT qualifier pace (5:18/mile) and run a negative split. So I don't mind if my first several miles are in the 5:20-5:25 range. I just want to be conservative early. I'm pretty confident that I can make that up over the last 10 miles.

My bib number is 86, and I'll be wearing a blue singlet/black shorts. I'm pumped.

So is it time to figure out some logistics?

Since things will be crowded in the starting area on race day but we'll all be in the Top 100 Corral (which will still have a good number of people in it), I think it would be a good idea for those who are trying to run the same pace for a decent chunk of the race to be able to find each other. I don't really know anyone else by sight, but we all should have our race confirmation packets and can list our bib numbers so we can group up at the start.

I'm looking to go through the half in 1:09 and my bib is #92. See you all soon.

Hello everyone. I'm in a bit of a jam and I wondering if there is anyone out there that can help. I'm injured and haven't been able to run in 10 days and it doesn't appear I'm going to be better in time to get fit again for Chicago. This wouldn't be such a big deal had I not booked my (non-refundable) hotel room already. I'm in for $900 and can't really afford to just eat that money. Does anyone still need a room out there? I'll bet I can change the name on the reservation. I'm booked at the Garden Inn Hilton which is VERY nice and less than mile from the start/finish. I'll let you have it for $250 a night if you want. Let me know if there are any takers out there. Thanks.

Finished up a down week of 85 miles on Saturday (I count my mileage Sun-Sat). Main workout for the week was 10 miles of in and out miles, alternating between relatively hard (on, 5:22 for first, progressed to 5:07 on last) and easier but still up tempo (off, ended up being around 5:35-5:40). 54:30 for 10 miles (warmed up 3, then started the 10 with an "off" mile). No LR in this week because I did long a progressive long run including a half marathon on Saturday the 1st (ran 5+ miles to the start, then ran very controlled for 8 miles before picking it up for the last 5), ran 73:30 or so for a hilly half, not bad for a progressive/workout effort.

Tim, you're not screwed by having to run hills at altitude all the time. Since you are already heading to Boulder for a lot of specific sessions, I would say a good way to compensate for the altitude and hills would be to make sure your legs are ready for the sustained pace/turnover/flat-pounding of Chicago with a few key sessions. Try to do a few sustained fast/marathon/tempo paced runs on slight-moderate downhill grades. Nothing extreme, but just enough of a downhill grade to balance out the altitude. Make these sessions as specific as possible by wearing your marathon flats and run on pavement to get your legs ready for the repetitive pounding inherent in a flat marathon. Yeah, you might have to figure out some logistics, but something like going one way on a bike path that follows a river works well. You can always park in the middle, warm up going up the path, do the pace run, then cool down back uphill to the car.

93 miles for the last week with one very short day. Did 22 miles yesterday for my long run. Was a nice out and back on a flat canal. 71:49 out and 66:47 back. Was running some 5:45's but didn't feel the greatest. Got slaughtered by my training partner, who ran 64:44 for the last 11.

It should read, "I have not done much over 80..."
